"Ziwén, Ziwén," Kan Mei-hui said with a cold smile. "You keep mentioning his name every time you open your mouth. Do people actually take you seriously?"
"Mom..." Han Junxi frowned slightly. "Ziwén should be here soon. Let's wait a bit longer."
"Wait, wait, I've been waiting for her all day," Kan Mei-hui said coldly. "If she really cares about me as an elder, she wouldn't treat me like this. I think you two better separate sooner rather than later."
"Mom, why are you saying such things?" Han Junxi frowned again. Ziwén had indeed been a bit overboard today, but he still defended her.
Kan Mei-hui became even more angry when she saw the scene. "I can't be happy as long as he stays with that woman," she said with a cold laugh.
Seeing that Kan Mei-hui was truly upset, Han Junxi quickly comforted her. "Mom, don't get too anxious. Why don't I call Ziwén and tell her not to come? Tonight we can watch a movie together the three of us—me, you, and Suoyuan."
"That's better," Kan Mei-hui smiled.
Seeing that Kan Mei-hui seemed in good spirits, Han Junxi hurriedly said, "Mom, I'll take good care of you tonight. If you give Ziwén another chance to explain herself tomorrow, will that be okay?"
"Alright, as long as you don't make me angry today, we can talk about it tomorrow," Kan Mei-hui said confidently. She couldn't avoid this; her goal now was to create opportunities for Han Junxi and Suoyuan.
Han Junxi smiled at his mother and then went out to pay the bill while calling Ziwén. The phone rang a long time but no one answered, making Han Junxi's expression even more grim.
Ziwén is really getting worse; if she disrespects her own mother like this, their relationship... I need to think about it seriously.
After all, that was his mother, not a stranger.
Just as Han Junxi was about to hang up the call, it suddenly got picked up. A deep voice answered, "Hello? Who is this?"
"Who are you?" Han Junxi frowned tightly and asked, "Where's Ziwén?"
"You mean that girl?" The caller was still the burly man. He felt particularly unlucky—besides being rear-ended, he had to pay for her medical expenses too. "She's in the hospital now getting checked up. What are you her relation?"
"Hospital? Why?" Han Junxi frowned even more, his heart tightening as he hurriedly asked, "Which hospital?"
"The Yangcheng Emergency Room," said the burly man. "That girl..."
Before he could finish speaking, a series of "dudu" sounds came from the phone.
Han Junxi's heart almost jumped out of his throat. He settled the bill and rushed into the room. "Mom, I can't go see the movie tonight. Ziwén is in trouble; I have to go to the hospital."
