In the kitchen, Song Ma watched as Chen Qing and Zhang Lu whispered in the living room. She didn't know what they were saying but felt uneasy, thinking something might happen. Now all she could do was silently pray that nothing would go wrong with Xia An.
As night fell, a cool breeze blew gently. Zhao Zhenzhen had already gone home an hour ago; Xia An walked alone on the street in despair.
Guci Xiyuan picked up Zhao Zhenzhen just an hour earlier for a classmate gathering at night. Zhao Zhenzhen was supposed to stay with Xia An, but she was rejected by her.
"I'm not a child anymore. Would I cry all alone? Go ahead, I'll be fine!" Xia An's mood seemed unaffected by Fang Hui; it looked no different from what it had been in the morning.
"Really?" Zhao Zhenzhen was unconvinced and kept asking.
"Just go. Don't make Gu Xiyuan wait too long, I’ll come home soon!" After pushing Zhao Zhenzhen away, Xia An looked at the empty office with a heavy heart.
Things had reached this point; she couldn’t control them anymore.
She decided to take matters into her own hands and called Qi Chen on her phone.
Qi Chen answered without hesitation. "Xia An!"
But Xia An pretended not to hear and harshly said, "What do you think about it? You and I can't keep wasting time like this; we should finalize the divorce quickly!"
"Did you call just to say that?" Qi Chen’s voice turned cold, completely different from before.
"Then what else would I say? What more is there between us?" Xia An's tears were uncontrollable, but she forced herself not to show any signs of distress.
"Good, very good. Xia An, a divorce can be done; I said the kids can only follow me, Qi Chen. I won’t let you take them with another man!" Qi Chen was furious and said this out of anger.
Xia An didn't care what Qi Chen said; she just wanted to finalize the divorce quickly.
"Rest assured, after we get divorced, I won't be with anyone else. We can sign an agreement, our kids will always have the surname Rua, so none of your worries will come true. So, let's divorce!" Xia An knew Qi Chen was merely buying time. She understood him well; if he had said this much, there would be no way he would continue to drag it out.
"Very well, as you wish." After saying that, Qi Chen hung up the phone.
What did he mean by 'as I wish'? He should have been clear!
Xia An stared at her ringing phone, which only added to her irritation.
"Qi Chen, this dragging is because we both don’t want to give up?" Xia An sighed helplessly and placed the phone down before leaving the office.
A gentle breeze refreshed her as she shivered in the underground parking lot.
Whether it was from distraction or intentional, that car seemed to be there on purpose.
