"Janie, Ge Shuang came here specifically to ask for my help in clearing up the misunderstanding," Zhao Zhenzhen said. "You misunderstood Ge Shuang. What happened that night was all a scheme set by Li Jianjun."
Misunderstanding? Li Jianjun?
Janie struggled to shift her gaze and looked at Zhao Zhenzhen.
She had once hoped that the night could have been a misunderstanding, and hearing what Zhao Zhenzhen said now, she felt hope ignite in her heart again.
"Actually, Ge Shuang has already explained it to me. He doesn't know that woman; she just happened to stay at his place by coincidence. Afterward, as you saw, there was nothing between them. As for why Li Jianjun met up with you, think about it—how did he end up near Ge Shuang's house and at such a late hour? Janie listened intently as she understood the strange nature of that night. An outsider sees more clearly than those who are involved, and she was too deeply ensnared to see the situation objectively.
Ge Shuang walked up to Janie with deep emotion then. "Exactly as Sister Xia An and Sister Zhao Zhenzhen said, I really didn't do anything. I don't know that woman either; everything was planned by Li Jianjun."
"But why didn't you explain it to me later?" Janie raised her eyes, filled with tears, and said in a hurt tone.
"Because you didn't give me the chance," Ge Shuang sighed. He had wanted to chase after her that night but hesitated out of fear she might not like him anymore. When he was detained by that woman, he couldn't extricate himself from the situation at hand.
Hot tears slid down Janie's face. "You liar! You tricked me!"
He immediately panicked when he heard this.

Xia An and Zhao Zhenzhen exchanged glances, both equally puzzled.

"You posted those photos in your friend circle; I thought—thought she was...," Janie couldn't finish her sentence as she regretted guessing recklessly. She shouldn't have almost misunderstood Ge Shuang because of her random speculations.
"Oh, the photo you ate with? That's my client's girlfriend. At the time, it was three of us having dinner together. Foreign clients are different; they also like to show their affection during business talks. If you don't believe me, I can call him now for you," Xia An said.
"No, no need. I trust you anyway." Janie blushed as she finished speaking.
In truth, she believed whatever Ge Shuang said; deep down, she still firmly believed he wouldn't deceive her.
"Janie, I truly didn't lie to you, really," Ge Shuang almost raised his fingers in a vow.
